Corporate networks with offices in different regions may have firewall access to the Internet in one (or a few) central location(s), usually the location of the corporate headquarters.

Likewise, large networks like AOL and WebTV access the Internet from one location - Arlington, VA or San Francisco, CA respectively. AOL users in Asia are (AOL-Japan) and AOL users in Europe are (AOL-Germany). These are identified as AOL or WebTV instead of a location.
